A major land, sea and air search was launched that night before it was stepped up on Friday.
Grave fears were held for Ms Nowak when there was again no sign of her on Saturday.
Ms Nowak is understood to have been carrying a small amount of food and water.
She was also able to send a text message before her phone went flat.
The 73-year-old was found shortly after 8am on Sunday after she stumbled onto a campsite with the campers notifying Police.
She was reunited with her husband a short time later before being airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
