Gold Coast businesses who hire a job seeker could get up to $20,000 in support payments from the State Government as part of a Back to Work jobs program.
The Back to Work SEQ program kicked off on July 1, backed by $27.5 million in new funding.
Queensland’s Employment Minister Grace Grace said: “This will support up to 1,500 new jobs and it’s available to employers in the south east who take on a long-term unemployed or a young unemployed jobseeker aged 15-24 years.

“Employees must have been working for four weeks (from 1 July 2017) to enable employers to apply for support payments.
“So if you’re a Gold Coast employer who is thinking of hiring, why not get paid up to $20,000 to do it?”
Support payments available for eligible employers of up to:
- $15,000 for eligible employers who hire a long-term unemployed jobseeker (a person unemployed for 52 weeks or more)
- $20,000 for a young jobseeker (aged between 15-24 years
To be eligible, employees need to have started work on, or after Saturday 1 July 2017, and have been employed for at least four weeks. Eligibility criteria applies
