UPDATE: A teenager has been charged over an alleged hit and run at a Palm Beach petrol station which made national headlines.
Gold Coast detectives charged the 17-year-old man late yesterday.
It’s believed the Upper Coomera teen was with a group of friends when a scuffle broke out between them and another group at the Gold Coast Highway service station, just after midnight on Monday.

Video footage shows a man hitting a car with his fist, before the vehicle drives over him and then reverses and leaves the scene.
A 40-year-old Palm Beach man remains in hospital. He’s thought to have a punctured lung and broken ribs.
The teenager is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today, where he faces a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident.
Earlier: POLICE are hunting for a group of people who were involved in a hit-and-run at a Palm Beach petrol station just after midnight.
The 40-year-old victim is in a serious condition in the Gold Coast University Hospital after he was struck by the vehicle around 12.30am.
Preliminary information suggests two groups of people were involved in an altercation at the Gold Coast Highway service station.
Following the altercation one group attempted to leave the petrol station in a vehicle. This vehicle has struck the man, who had been involved in the earlier altercation, running him over.
The vehicle failed to stop and police investigations are continuing.
Someone captured footage of the incident on their mobile phone and that has been posted online. Investigators would like to speak to the person who recorded those images.
