Holidaymakers causing lengthy delays on Southern Gold Coast

There are some traffic dramas on the M1 this afternoon, with holidaymakers heading to the Gold Coast from the southern states to make the most of their NSW long weekend.

Traffic northbound from the NSW border all the way up to Reedy Creek is currently bumper to bumper.

Plenty of caravans and boats are on the road, with interstate families heading north to enjoy the sunshine state for their long weekend.

The Gold Coast Highway northbound through Bilinga, Tugun and Currumbin is also very slow.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays.
