THE home that is now known world-wide following the shocking murder of eight children is said to be demolished and the land made into a public memorial.
Cairns MP Gavin King said it was a combination of the shocking events along with cultural beliefs relating to spirits that had seen the Queensland Government agree to the demolition.
“After extensive consultation we will remove the house behind me and make way for a public memorial” Mr King said as he spoke to media.

At the moment, the community are continuing to lay flowers at a fig tree in a park not far from the crime scene.
Eight children were found stabbed to death inside the Murray street home on Friday 19 December.
