Crews working to restore power to Gold Coast homes and businesses

UPDATE 11:20AM | ENERGEX crews are in the process of restoring power to homes and businesses on the Gold Coast following an earlier outage.

More than 1400 customers lost power in Southport, Ashmore, Surfers Paradise, Benowa and Bundall just before 10.30am.

According to Energex, the outage was caused by damage to an underground cable. Crews have managed to restore power to more than 1300 customers, with just 93 homes and businesses waiting to be reconnected in Southport and Ashmore.

10:30AM | ENERGEX crews are investigating the cause of a blackout which has cut power to more than 1,400 homes and businesses on the Gold Coast.

A total of 1,116 customers lost power in Southport just before 10.30am. More than 250 customers are also affected in Ashmore, Surfers Paradise, Benowa and Bundall.

Energex crews have been deployed to investigate the cause of the outage. At this stage, it is not known when electricity will be restored.
