There are fears up to eight properties have been lost in a 4000 hectare fire burning at Scotsburn, near Ballarat which is believed to have been sparked by farm machinery.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews told the ABC it was too early to confirm how many of the properties were homes.
“It is eight properties, some we know are houses but we can’t confirm the exact details on the split on what might be farming buildings, shedding versus homes,” he said.
Three other fires of significant concern are burning at Buxton, Lorne and East Gippsland, all three of which are thought to have been sparked by lightning.
