MOTORISTS are experiencing lengthy delays around Hope Island this morning as roadworks on Santa Barbara Road continue.
Santa Barbara Road was down to one lane from 7am this morning, causing major disruptions for those doing the school drop off and heading to work.
One motorist told MyGc that it took her 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Sanctuary Cove to Coomera to drop her children at school, a trip that would usually only take about 15 minutes.

“Motorists were getting really frustrated sitting in the traffic, they were even calling out to the road workers.”
Police were called in just after 9.30am to direct traffic from the major roundabout on Hope Island Road, with reports the closed lane has now been opened up with traffic starting to flow.
It is not known whether the traffic conditions will be the same for tomorrow, with motorists warned to allow extra time for travel.
