Hopes fade for teen lost in surf off NSW north coast

The search continues this morning for a teenager who has been missing at an  unpatrolled NSW north coast beach for more than 36 hours.

17-yer-old Ali Mosawi was swimming with four other people at Pebbly Beach, in the Yuraygir National Park when they got into trouble about 3pm on Saturday.

Police say three of the group swam to shore and helped a fourth boy to safety but Mr Mosawi could not be seen.

Police divers, PolAir, Surf Live Saving NSW volunteers and the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter searching tirelessly across Saturday and Sunday but failed to find the teenager.
