A MAN charged with stalking, secretly filming and raping a woman in country New South Wales will spend at least the next seven weeks behind bars after being refused bail over the horrifying attack.
The 54-year-old woman told police she had only just returned home to her house in Tamworth when she was “detained by an unknown man” who then allegedly bound, gagged and raped her before running away.
The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Tamworth Base Hospital.

A crime scene was established at the woman’s home and was examined by specialist police.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad later spoke with a 58-year-old man who they allege had made numerous attempts to contact and see the woman in the days following the attack.
While looking through the man’s phone, investigators allegedly found videos of the woman that had been filmed from outside her home without her knowledge.
The man was subsequently charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of filming a person in private act in circumstances of aggravation, and two counts of peep or pry.
He was also charged with stalking or intimidate with intent to cause fear or physical harm.
The man appeared in Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday where he was formally refused bail.
He’s due to re-appear in the same court on Tuesday, April 9.
