Horror as woman is stabbed to death in Tasmania supermarket

A woman has been stabbed to death in a horrifying daylight attack inside a bustling supermarket in Tasmania.

It’s understood the woman was attacked by a man during an armed robbery at the North Hobart Grocer on the popular Elizabeth Street cafe strip just after midday on Saturday.

Police said the woman, believed to be aged in her 60s, had been stabbed eight times in the neck.

She was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition where sadly, she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

A 34-year-old Claremont man has since been arrested and charged with her murder.

He was also charged with the alleged armed robbery and was due to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court today.
