It’s the scenario many Australian sport fans may have been secretly wishing for following the shock news that the San Fransisco 49ers had axed our much-loved NFL convert, Jarryd Hayne.

Reggie Bush caught the first punt of the game, ran across field for no gain, slipped over on a hardened area just off the playing surface and injured his knee.
Kendall Gaskins, the 49ers running back who was elevated to the team’s 53-man squad after Hayne’s surprise axing, also had a forgettable opening touch when he slipped over for a loss of two yards.
Mike Davis also suffered game-ending injuries against as they struggled at Edward Jones Dome.
The 49ers appear headed for their sixth loss in eight games with the Rams up 20-6 in the third quarter and Gaskins their only running back option.
It comes a day after the NFL club decided to cut Hayne from the roster, giving him 48 hours to either be picked up by another club or be dropped to the club’s practice squad.
Hayne’s management have confirmed he will not be making a return to the NRL and will look instead to keep his NFL dream alive.
He has already been linked to a potential move to the Detroit Lions or Seattle Seahawks.
