Host named for 2015 Academy Awards

THE host has been named for next year’s 87th Academy Awards.

A representative for the Oscars confirmed to ABC News Neil Patrick Harris will play host in 2015.

Known for his role in TV sitcom “How I met Your Mother” the actor posted a video on his Twitter feed, where he says, “I’m in!”

“Nice,” he continued, then he goes to look at a bucket list, where at the bottom he circles “Host the Oscars.” Already crossed off the list was “have children” and “meet the president.”

Harris, a first time Oscars host, also released a statement to ABC, saying, “It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”

The awards will air in February.
