House, unit blocks evacuated after carport goes up in flames in Miami

TWO cars and a carport have been completed destroyed by fire in Miami overnight.

The blaze is believed to have started in a car, which was parked in the carport of a home on Christine Avenue, around 11.30pm.

Police said officers patrolling the Miami area noticed the flames, and  immediately alerted other emergency services who rushed to the scene.

The residents of the home, and nearby unit blocks were evacuated as the fire continued to spread to a second vehicle and also the overhead aluminium carport.

Firies managed to extinguish the flames, however the two cars and carport were totally destroyed.

Luckily, no one was injured.

Police are continuing their investigations into the cause of the fire.
