How to be part of a mass nude photoshoot that’s coming to Qld

Honestly, I never thought i’d see the day I would be asking this question to readers… but hello and welcome to 2019.

Have you ever wanted to strip naked and pose nude alongside thousands of other Aussies? If so, then boy do we have some exhilarating news for you.

Internationally-renowned contemporary artist Spencer Tunick, who is known for his large-scale nude installation photographs, is returning to Australian shores to create another thought provoking nude artwork.

The installation, titled ‘Sea Earth Change’, will take place on Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays on November 23, as part of Australian fashion retailer The Iconic’s ‘We Are Human’ Summer 19/20 campaign.

According to organisers, this “once-in-a-lifetime installation” invites Australians of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds to bare it all on the picturesque Whitehaven Beach “to make a statement about the vulnerability of humans, the fragility of nature and their inextricable connectedness.”

“Spencer’s work strips everything back to create a statement – one that explores the concept of the vulnerability in both humans and nature,” The Iconic’s Chief Marketing Officer Alexander Meyer said.

“His images are impactful because of their nakedness and simplicity. It is this simplicity of existence that we, together with Spencer, want to highlight – that we are complicating the world through fear of the ‘anonymous other'”.

To bring the artwork to life, Australians over the age of 18 are being encouraged to “pose nude in nature” and apply to be part of the thought-provoking piece.

Applications open today and close on Thursday 14th November, however spaces are limited so if you’re keen to get your kit off you better be quick.

“Interested participants are urged to register their interest as soon as possible as spaces are limited due to the remoteness of the location,” organisers said in a statement.

In exchange for participating in the project, participants will receive a limited edition photograph of the installation so they can look back and remember the time they posed nude alongside
