It’s official! Pop superstar Taylor Swift is heading down under to perform at this year’s Melbourne Cup.
The Victoria Racing Club confirmed the exciting news in a statement on Thursday.
“The Victoria Racing Club is thrilled to announce ten-time GRAMMY® Award-winning, record-breaking global superstar Taylor Swift will perform at Lexus Melbourne Cup Day” the statement said.

The much-loved American singer-songwriter will sing two of her latest hits ahead of the race that stops a nation at Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday 5 November.
It will be Swift’s only public appearance in Australia following the release of her smash studio album Lover, which is Australia’s highest selling album for 2019.
VRC Chief Executive Officer Neil Wilson said the Club is looking forward to welcoming Taylor Swift to Flemington for Cup Day.
“Lexus Melbourne Cup Day is the most celebrated day on Australia’s major event calendar and with a reach of 1 billion people globally, it’s only fitting the VRC welcomes the world’s most celebrated star for the event,” Mr Wilson said.
“To think you can come to Flemington and watch not only the race that stops a nation but see one of the world’s biggest, if not the biggest, entertainer perform for the cost of a general admission ticket is phenomenal.
“We look forward to welcoming Taylor Swift to our wonderful event in just under 54 days.”
The 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival begins with Derby Day on Saturday 2 November, followed by Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 5 November, Oaks Day on Thursday 7 November andStakes Day on Saturday 9 November.
