Blackouts continue on the Gold Coast

UPDATE at 1:55 PM | MORE than 200 homes and businesses remain without power on the Gold Coast.

While power has been restored to the 540 customers who were blacked out in Bundall, Benowa, Ashmore and Southport, a further 275 properties have now lost power on the southern end of the Coast.

The outage is affecting 179 properties on 10 streets in Tallebudgera and 40 customers on four streets in Currumbin Waters. A further 56 properties are also without power on 10 streets in Currumbin Valley.


Energex crews are out in the field, working hard to restore power as soon as possible.

More than 2000 homes and businesses lost power across the Gold Coast on Friday as strong winds whipped up by Cyclone Oma toppled trees onto power lines.

FIRST at 10:15 AM | HUNDREDS of homes and businesses have lost power on the Gold Coast.

The outage has blacked out 470 homes in Bundall and Benowa, as well as a further 70 in Ashmore and Southport.

It is not known what has caused the outage, which is affecting streets, or when power will be fully restored.

Energex crews are out in the field, investigating the issue.
