Hundreds of homes without power on Gold Coast after ute ploughs into pole

A ute has smashed into a powerpole on the northern Gold Coast this morning, causing a mass blackout.

The accident happened at the corner of Bayview Street and Errol Avenue in Paradise Point just after 5.00am on Saturday.

Photos obtained by myGC show a black ute which has crashed into a pole and fence in the quiet neighbourhood.

The crash has now cut power to more than 1500 homes in the area.

More than 753 residents in Hollywell are in darkness, while 784 homes in Paradise Point have been affected, with a few properties in Runaway Bay also without power.

The driver of the vehicle, a man, has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Thankfully he managed to escape with minor injuries.

Why “thankfully no injuries”?? He’s obviously been speeding or been a tool on that road at that time of morning, and now caused huge impact on the locals through his actions. He deserves some injuries to remind him not to be a tool behind the wheel…
