Husband and wife killed by car on Christmas Eve

Police are appealing for dash cam vision after a husband and wife were hit and killed by a car in Townsville on Christmas Eve.

It’s understood the couple, aged in their 70s, were walking home from a church service when they were struck by the vehicle on Ross River Road in Mundingburra about 7.20pm.

Police say the accident happened at the intersection with Bowen Road.

Paramedics desperately worked to save the pair, however sadly they could not be revived and were both declared deceased at the scene.

Investigators are now appealing to any motorists who have dash-cam footage of the incident, and in particular of the intersections with Charters Towers Road, Bowen Road and Queens Road between 7pm and 7.20pm to contact them.

Investigations are ongoing.
