“I should never have done it”: NRL star breaks down over Gold Coast arrest

NRL star Reece Walsh has broken his silence, after being arrested on drugs charges on the Gold Coast.

The 19-year-old Warriors fullback has been charged with possessing cocaine, after being arrested in the early hours yesterday.

It’s understood he was issued with a move on order just after midnight on Sunday morning before he was found in the same area 45 minutes later and arrested.

Video posted to social media shows police talking to a man, believed to be Walsh, on the glitter strip before he is led away in handcuffs.

He was then taken to the Surfers Paradise police station where he was searched and allegedly found to be in possession of cocaine.

He’ll now undergo drug and alcohol counselling, while the NRL is yet to confirm any punishment.

Walsh has since delivered an emotional press conference, apologising to his club, fans and sponsors.

“No one else is involved in this, it’s solely on me.

“I’m putting my hand up, I should never have done it and it’s a mistake that I’ve made, I’m aware of that and I’m really remorseful,” Walsh said.
