Ian Thorpe reportedly detained by police in Sydney

BREAKING: In a disturbing development, Australian Olympic champion Ian Thorpe has been detained by police in Sydney.

It is understood police and paramedics were called after Thorpe was found ‘dazed’ outside his parents’ home in the city’s south west shortly after 3am on Monday morning.

A concerned resident phoned emergency services, claiming they were watching Thorpe acting erratically outside the home at Panania before he allegedly tried to break into the informants car.


Police arrived and located Thorpe sitting in the car. The vehicle’s owner is reportedly not pressing charges.

Officers told news.com.au: “No official complaint has been made, and no further police action is anticipated.”

He was taken to hospital for assessment. His current condition is not yet known.
