The Gold Coast’s Active and Healthy program is being expanded again this year, to include a new eight week cancer program.
The 2021-22 line-up offers 200 free or low-cost activities around the city, all designed to encourage overall wellbeing and community connection.
This year, Council is hoping to bolster the program with a new focus on cancer support, water therapy and a focus on chronic disease management.

An 8 week cancer wellness program developed by an accredited exercise physiologist hopes to support cancer patients and recovering patients maintain their physical, mental and emotional strength.
It takes the latest research around exercise & cancer and combines it with a holistic approach to health.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate says this will be an important addition to the Active and Healthy program.
“After my cancer scare in 2017, I know first hand how important it is look after yourself,” the Mayor said.
“Diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases is often a rollercoaster of emotions and finding strategies that help cope with recovery while staying connected with others going through similar challenges can be hugely beneficial.
“When you’re not feeling well exercise can feel like the last thing you want to do, but it can help boost energy levels, minimise side effects and help with the recovery process.”
