“Incorrectly fastened wheel arch covers” sparks major Audi recall

Thousands of Audi vehicles have been recalled across the country over fears their wheel arch covers could come loose and potentially cause a serious accident.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission alerted motorists to the recall on Thursday.

It affects around 11,140 Audi Q5 models manufactured between 2016 and 2019 (Model Years 2017 – 2020).

“Incorrectly fastened wheel arch covers could come loose over time and potentially detach from affected vehicles,” the ACCC said.

“If the wheel arch covers loosen, they may detach from the vehicle and pose an accident risk to road users.”

Audi Australia is currently in the process of contacting all known owners of affected vehicles.

“Consumers should contact their nearest Audi Dealer to arrange for inspection and repair,” the recall notice reads.

“The securing clips on both rear wheel arch covers will be replaced with improved parts.”

For further information, motorists can contact the Audi Australia 24-hour toll free number on 1800 50 AUDI (2834).
