India hoping to end horror Gabba history

INDIA will need to overturn a horrid record at the Gabba if they’re to defeat Australia this week and square the four-Test cricket series.

India have never won at the venue, while Australia haven’t lost a Test in Brisbane since 1988.

The second Test starts today in Brisbane, with Steve Smith to become the 45th Test captain of Australia in the absence of hamstrung skipper Michael Clarke.

Debutant Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc have been added to the hosts’ pace attack, with Ryan Harris injured and Peter Siddle dropped.

Shaun and Mitch Marsh will also become the first set of siblings to play in the same Test team since the Waugh brothers made their last baggy green appearance together in 2002.
