The federal government’s second bill to crackdown on unions will be debated in the Senate today, after the first passed in the early hours of this morning.
The Registered Organisations Bill is through, after a protection for whistleblowers was added.
Negotiations continue with the crossbench, as the Coalition tries to get support for its building industry watchdog bill.

The Coalition needs the support of 9 of the 10 crossbenchers and is continuing negotiations with senators including David Leyonhjelm and Derryn Hinch.
Senator Leyonhjelm believes the bill will pass eventually, but possibly not before parliament wraps up for the year.
“I think ultimately they will get the numbers,” he said.
“The question is, whether they’ll get the numbers by the end of next week, given that there’s a lot of other things they want to get done by the end of next week as well.”
