‘Inhaling’ teens suffer serious burns in Gold Coast incident

TWO CHILDREN have been rushed to hospitals in Brisbane with burn injuries, following an incident in Surfers Paradise.

It’s believed the pair, aged in their mid-teens, were inhaling a volatile substance which was ignited by a nearby cigarette, just after 9pm on Friday.

Paramedics, including critical care paramedics and Gold Coast HARU, were called to the scene, off the Gold Coast Highway near Monaco Street, and treated a girl and boy.

The girl suffered burns to her face and upper body and was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital under lights and sirens, in a serious but stable condition.

A boy was taken to the Queensland Children’s hospital in a stable condition , with burns to his arms and legs.
