Injured body surfer airflifted to Gold Coast Hospital

THE RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has flown to the aid of an injured body surfer off South Stradbroke Island.

It is understood the 20-year-old man was dumped by a wave in waters off the island at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The young man landed on a sandbank and injured his arm.


The Gold Coast based rescue chopper landed on the island’s seawall, approximately 400 metres from the scene.

The RACQ medical team assessed and treated the man who was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

He travelled in stable condition.
