Injured mountain bike rider airlifted to Brisbane

THE Gold Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to airlift an injured mountain biker who crashed north-west of Beaudesert at the weekend.

The 42-year-old was riding along a track at Lake Wyaralong, located at the base of Mt Joyce, when he lost control and came off the mountain bike.

He suffered suspected collarbone and shoulder injuries, as well as a possible abdominal injury in the accident.

“CareFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and Flight Intensive Care Paramedic was winched from the helicopter to the injured man,” he said.

“The patient was then transported by road ambulance to a nearby area of land where the helicopter landed.”

He was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
