DESPITE recovering from a freak injury, Gold Coast’s Samantha Stosur is off to a flying start at the French Open after winning her first match last night.
The injured tennis player still managed to produce a 6-1, 6-1 win against opponent Puerto Rican Monica Puig.
Four days prior to last nights showdown, Stosur was injured while training at her local gym, which left her with five stitches to a deep cut on her leg.

But she was confident the injury wouldn’t pose a problem going forward into the competition.
Opening the round heavily strapped and padded, it didn’t impede Stosur as she demolished the in-form Puig in just 58 minutes in cool, damp conditions.
