Injury and death toll climbing after massive crane crash

THERE have been shocking scenes in Saudi Arabia’s Muslim holy city of Mecca.

At least 87 people have been killed and more than 180 injured after a construction crane crashed into the city’s Grand Mosque during busy Friday afternoon prayer time.

It’s believed strong winds and heavy rains brought the crane tumbling to the ground.

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims from all over the world are gathering in Mecca for the annual hajj pilgrimage which begins later this month.
