Inmate charged over bashing death of Zlatko Sikorsky in prison

An inmate at Wolston Correctional Centre has been charged over the bashing death of “body in a barrel” murderer Zlatko Sikorsky.

Sikorsky was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with critical head injuries on November 10 after allegedly being attacked by a fellow prisoner while behind bars.

The 37-year-old, who was accused of murdering Queensland teen Larissa Beilby and dumping her body on the Gold Coast, died in hospital ten days later.

Following investigations into the prison bashing, Detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit today issued a 26-year-old man with a notice to appear for one count of unlawful striking causing death.

The man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 19.

Sikorsky was awaiting trial for the alleged murder of his 16-year-old girlfriend, whose body was found stuffed inside a barrel on the back of a ute at Stapylton back in 2018.

He was due to face trial in the Supreme Court charged with murder, torture, deprivation of liberty and interfering with a corpse.
