An inquest is set to begin in Southport Magistrates Court today following the death of a woman at the Gold Coast University Hospital in 2014.
Renae Jean Mann died at the hospital from a prescription drug overdose on May 14, 2014.
A pre-inquest hearing revealed the 43-year-old was being attended to by staff in the emergency department before she was moved to the mental health unit, where she was left unattended for 45 minutes.

During that time, Ms Mann stopped breathing and died.
An autopsy later revealed the woman passed away as a result of the effects of the anti-depressant drug amitriptyline.
The inquest will look into the circumstances surrounding Ms Mann’s death.
