Inspirational burns survivor Turia Pitt to become a mum

Having survived horrific injuries and going on to become a motivationalist and author, Turia Pitt is now up for another challenge.

The 29-year-old has revealed, she and fiancé Michael Hoskin are expecting their first child in December.

The inspirational mining engineer, who suffered burns to 65 per cent of her body when caught in a grass fire while competing in an ultramarathon in the Kimberley in 2011, has told 60 Minutes she found out she was pregnant just days before she was due to fly out to Nepal

Ms Pitt had planned to climb to Everest Base Camp with Interplast – the medical charity that helps burns survivors – but decided against it.

“I wanted to do the walk,” she told 60 Minutes, “and then I thought about it and you know it’s not just myself I have to think about and Everest Base Camp there’s high altitude, low oxygen, not much sanitation and if something happens to you it’s really hard to get to a medical facility.”

All I wanted was a back rub… ?? (we are stoked – bring it on! ❤️❤️❤️)

She is now 15-weeks pregnant and the couple has decided on a girl’s and boy’s name, but won’t reveal what they are.

“We’re stoked,” Michael gushed. “We couldn’t be happier.”
