Introducing the new Deputy Mayor of Tweed

Tweed Shire Councillor Reece Byrnes has been elected to the position of Deputy Mayor of the Tweed, replacing Councillor Chris Cherry in the position.

29-year-old Councillor Byrnes is believed to be the youngest Deputy Mayor in the Council’s history, and will hold the position until September 2018, when another election will be held.

It comes after the Council decided, 12 months ago, that Deputy Mayors would be appointed for a length of just 12-months while the Mayor would remain in their position for two years.
