Investigations underway after stolen car set alight on Gold Coast

INVESTIGATIONS are underway after a stolen car was allegedly set on fire on the Pacific Motorway overnight.

The car burst into flames on the side of the M1, near Exit 45 at Ormeau, around 9.30pm.

Fire crews rushed to the scene a short time later and managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread.

No one was found at the scene of the fire.

A police spokesperson confirmed to myGC that inquiries revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from a property in Yarrabilba, Logan in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Investigations are continuing.
