Investigations underway after child approached, offered lift by man near Tweed Heads

POLICE are appealing for public assistance following a child approach in northern NSW yesterday.

The frightening incident happened about 3.45pm, as a 13-year-old girl was walking on Prince Street at Murwillumbah.

It’s understood a rusty red four-door sedan car pulled up next to the child, with a man asking if she wanted a lift.

The youngster ran from the man and reported the incident to her mother at home.

The man has been described as having a dark complexion, aged between 35-45, medium build, dark hair with a crew cut hairstyle, stubble and wearing a tattered white or cream singlet.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
