It’s official: Female drivers safer than male

ALEX HEINKE reports.

A new study has revealed female drivers cause fewer accidents then their male counterparts, but not when it comes to car parks.

The Royal Automobile Association of South Australia says women have made 7,000 fewer crash insurance claims than men over the past two years, in a study of 100,000 claims.

Men, on the other hand, cause nearly two-thirds of rear-enders.”The data indicates that women appear to be safer drivers and less likely to cause serious damage,” senior claims manager Hayley Cain said.

But she said women were also more likely to cause car park bingles, making up nearly two-thirds of claims for hitting parked cars.
