A Gold Coast man is more than $460,000 richer after sharing first division in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw.
The man who bought his winning ticket at Sanctuary Cove said he only occasionally plays Saturday Lotto, but had a strange feeling that he should buy a ticket in this draw.
“The other day I just had a really strong desire to play because I kept waking up every morning right on 4:44am.”

“It was quite funny because I just thought ‘I’ve really got to play Lotto tonight’.
“Then that night I said to my partner, ‘you better check that ticket’.
“Then she rang me back saying I think we’ve won $400,000!”
He actually ended up winning $463,699.20 after also winning division two six times, division three 12 times, division four 45 times and division five 20 times.
He plans to spend the winnings on travel and will pour some back into the Gold Coast community.
“It’s just such great timing because we really love helping our community and we will keep doing that,” he said
“We’re going to Europe this year and we’re going to travel a lot more.
“This prize will really help me get ahead.”
It was a welcome win for Sanctuary Cove News who haven’t sold a division one winning ticket for around 20 years.
Owner Ralda Ramsay says they’re thrilled for the man.
“It’s been forever since our store has had a big win!” she exclaimed.
“About 20 years ago we sold a winning syndicate and a big group of people shared that prize but I think this is the first division one winning entry one of our individual customers have won.
“We’re always anticipating a big win, so we’re so glad it’s finally happening.
“We wish our winner all the best!”
