Japanese restaurant set alight at Labrador

POLICE are investigating a suspicious fire at a Japanese restaurant at Labrador in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews arrived at Frank Street before 4:30am on Tuesday to find a building well alight after some sort of projectile was reportedly thrown through the window.

The flames were extinguished quickly, causing moderate damage to the building.

Neighbouring shops were also checked for hot spots, before being given the all clear.

Early investigations indicate a break and enter may have occurred in the premises prior to the fire.

Police will conduct forensic examinations at the scene throughout the day as their investigations continue in the cause of the fire.
