Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne is facing a second sexual assault charge following a brief court appearance in Newcastle on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old’s lawyer, Leo Premutico, confirmed the second aggravated sexual assault charge was levelled against him by police.
Both charges relate to an alleged incident on grand final night last year, in which Hayne went to a 26-year-old woman’s home in the Newcastle region.

According to court documents, police allege Hayne had sexual intercourse with the woman without her consent and “did recklessly inflict actual bodily harm” on the woman “in circumstances of aggravation”.
She sought treatment for injuries at a hospital the following day.
Hayne has previously denied the accusations.
Hayne’s lawyer also asked for two changes to his bail conditions, involving his residential address and where he would report to police.
It’s understood Hayne has moved back to the Gold Coast.
The matter was adjourned until June 26.
