BEAUDESERT golfer Jason Day has advanced to the second round of the WGC Match Play Championship in Arizona.
Day beat Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen 2-up to progress and will play American Billy Horschel next.
But the news was not as good for fellow Australian Marc Leishmann who fell to Spain’s Sergio Garcia in 22 holes.

It is a disappointing result for Leishmann who just yesterday said he no longer wanted to be in the shadows of players like Day and Hope Island golfer Adam Scott.
Leishmann is currently ranked 65th in the world, the third best Australian. He would like to aim to be within the top 50. But it looks like he will have to wait until the next major tournament to prove himself now.
