Jayden Moorea to stand trial for Gold Coast cheerleader’s murder

Jayden Moorea has been formally committed to stand trial over the alleged murder of Gold Coast Titans cheerleader Breeana Robinson eight years ago to the day.

The 47-year-old, formerly known as Dan Shearin, is accused of throwing his former girlfriend over a balcony at the H20 building in Southport in January 2013.

The death was initially deemed a suicide, however police investigations were reopened in 2017, and a biomechanics expert found the way Breanna had fallen suggested she had been pushed rather than jumped.

Moorea was arrested and charged with murder in 2019, but has consistently denied the allegations against him.

It comes following a ten-day committal hearing in Southport Court, where several neighbours and residents from the H20 building gave evidence.

The trial is expected to take place at Brisbane’s Supreme Court, at a later date yet to be set.
