Jim Carrey ‘deeply saddened’ after girlfriend’s suspected suicide

Actor Jim Carrey has spoken out following the shock suicide of his Irish beautician girlfriend, Cathriona White.

Ms White, 28, was found dead in her LA home at 8.40pm on Monday after two of her friends visited the house.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, pills were found lying nearby and they believe she died from an overdose.

LA Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, said: “Ms White was found at her home in Sherman Oaks. The final cause of death has not been confirmed, pending an autopsy.”

Carrey released a statement, saying he is shocked and saddened by Cathriona’s death.

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt,” the statement read.

There are unconfirmed reports she left a suicide note saying she had broken up with Carrey.

In the days before her passing, Cathriona sent her final tweet, which read: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”

Carrey, 53, met Cathriona in 2012 and they dated for just a few months before calling it quits.

The pair, who have been spotted on film sets and holidays together, later rekindled their romance in May this year but are believed to have split a second time.
