Queensland legend Johnathan Thurston has been ruled out of the State of Origin decider and the rest of the season.
The Maroons star is scheduled to undergo surgery after re-injuring his shoulder during Wednesday night’s State of Origin clash at ANZ Stadium.
Cowboys coach Paul Green confirmed the devastating news at a press conference in Townsville on Friday morning.

“After consultation with club medical and football staff, his management and family, the decision was taken for Thurston to have surgery,” he said.
It means Thurston will miss what would have been his 300th NRL match on Saturday, as well as the World Cup.
The timing of the surgery is still to be determined, the Cowboys said in a statement.
