Josephine Tobias has announced that she’ll contest for the Gold Coast seat of Moncrieff in the Federal Election next month.
The founder of Gold Coast International Women’s Day Leadership Awards, Women at Work and Gold Coast Show Society President plans to run as an independent candidate for the seat.
She has previously campaigned for the seat of Moncrieff back in 2003, when Steve Ciobo was first elected.

Ms Tobias says she’s committed to a sustainable future for the Gold Coast, and would bring extensive experience in tourism, training, small business and real estate to the role.
“I’ve worked across most areas of tourism specialised in International Tourism and Event Marketing and the Cruise Ship Industry.
“For the past 24 years I was committed to the leadership, training and employments needs of women.
“More recently I have worked in the property market and am currently the President of the Gold Coast Show,” Ms Tobias said.
Ms Tobias has lived on the Gold Coast for 35 years, with three children and three step children that have all attended Gold Coast schools, TAFE and Universities.
She says it is her goal to serve as a Civic leader bringing her international and corporate experience to future policies worthy of the next generations respect and gratitude.
“We don’t need party politics we need policies that reward the hardworking men and women and their families on the GC with a lifestyle that is safe, sustainable and visionary,” Ms Tobias stated.
Ms Tobias was most recently announced as the President of the Gold Coast Show Society, the first woman ever to hold the role.
