TWENTY-three of the brightest female surf lifesavers in Queensland have arrived on the Coast, hoping they have what it takes to be crowned the 2014 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl.
Eight Gold Coasters are among the entrants battling it out in the final round of judging this week.
Over the next four days the girls will take part in mock surf rescues, CPR demonstrations, a tour of the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue Service hangar and a community education session before the winner is announced at a gala ball at Jupiters Hotel & Casino on Saturday night.

It’s the 50th year the Summer Surf Girl program has been run, with close to $14 million raised for surf life saving clubs around the state since the program started in the 1960s.
SLSQ Chief Operating Officer and judge George Hill said the Jupiters Summer Surf Girl program is one of SLSQ’s largest and most enduring club-based fundraising programs.
“For the past 12 months these girls have been fundraising, promoting beach safety awareness, raising the profile of surf lifesaving as well as patrolling the beaches, all of which have been balanced with work and study commitments,” he said.
Mr Hill said each entrant is a fully qualified surf lifesaver and as a group spent over 1000 hours patrolling Queensland beaches over the past season.
“These women represent the future of our organisation, they are wonderful ambassadors for the movement and should be so proud of the fantastic contribution they’ve made to surf lifesaving in Queensland, both on and off the beach,” Mr Hill said.
The 2014 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl winner will be announced on Saturday, 17 May during a Gala Ball at Jupiters Hotel & Casino.
