Jury deliberating verdicts in trial of man accused of murdering ex-wife, partner on Gold Coast

A JURY has retired to deliberate its verdicts in the trial of a man charged with murdering his ex-wife and her partner at a home on the Gold Coast two years ago.

Christopher Carter is on trial in Brisbane’s Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to the pair’s murder.

Renee Carter and her convicted child sex offender boyfriend Corey Croft were found stabbed to death in their Upper Coomera home on January 20, 2015. Ms Carter’s 5-year-old son was in the house at the time.

According to Mr Carter’s lawyer, the 38-year-old only went to the home to talk and didn’t intend to murder his ex-wife and her partner.

The jury of six men and six women are expected to continue their verdict deliberations today.
