Justin Bieber suffers face paralysis with rare disorder diagnoses

Justin Bieber has reached out to fans with a health update amid the cancellation of a string of his shows.

The Canadian pop star says he can’t blink or smile on the right side of his face as he is suffering from a rare neurological disorder.

In an Instagram video, he says he is being treated for Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

“This is pretty serious, as you can see,” Bieber says.

“This eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril won’t move, so there’s full paralysis in this side of my face.”

He went on to apologise for having to cancel a string of his shows.

“I’m just physically obviously not capable of doing them,”

“Obviously my body is telling me I’ve got to slow down and I hope you guys understand,

“I’m using this time to just rest and relax and get back to 100%.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears.

It can cause a painful rash, as well as facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.
