‘You shouldn’t drive mum’: Kids tell drunk, semi-naked mum after crashing car

A DRUNK, semi-naked mother who took her two kids on a dangerous joyride in the family’s red Holden Commodore has been arrested after losing control and crashing into cars on a suburban Gold Coast street.

It’s understood the accident happened on Turpin Road, between Saltash and Whiting Streets, at Labrador about 8.30pm when the woman reportedly lost control and smashed into a parked car.

The woman has since been charged with drink driving after allegedly blowing a blood alcohol level of 0.184.

A bystander who requested anonymity witnessed the moments after the crash and told Gold Coast Weather & News Together that the woman appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and tried running from the scene – twice.

“The woman driving was drunk and not wearing any pants,” the bystander said. “She had two kids in the back and was trying to leave the scene.”

“Her kids said ‘we told you that you shouldn’t drive mum’.”

Witnesses reported hearing the woman’s children screaming for her to slow down moments before the collision.

Dozens of concerned residents rushed onto the street to help the two young boys aged under 10 who appeared shaken, but okay.

“One of the kids was in pain on the sidewalk and all the mum wanted to do was walk home. It was an absolute poor site to see,” said another witness.

The boy’s mother was arrested at the scene after reportedly recording a blood alcohol level three times over the legal limit.

It’s understood she was only wearing a pair of undies and a singlet at the time of the crash.

Multiple emergency services attended the scene but fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
