Kirra Surfriders Club trailer and equipment stolen ahead of major event

The Kirra Surfriders Club are desperately calling for help from the public, to locate a missing trailer with much needed equipment for an upcoming competition.

The trailer was reportedly stolen from the Kirra Hotel carpark on Saturday night, where thieves had to cut through a chain to take it.

It has since been spotted in the Palm Beach area, with the KSC logo (pictured below) ripped off.

Though the black and white eagle is still printed on it.

It’s believed a male and female were seen in a white duel cab 4WD ute, towing the trailer, and potentially heading for the M1.

The trailer has vital equipment for the upcoming ‘Kirra Teams Challenge’ which is beginning this weekend and bringing 37 different clubs from around the country to the Gold Coast.

Paul Sheehan, the President of the Club, says they’ve potentially lost a lot of important and expensive equipment.

“Tables, marquees, barbecues, generator, tents, bags of rash vests, all the stuff we use to run our monthly events, which we do use for this main event as well.

“The trailer was about $10,000 to get custom made, and it will cost about $10,000-$15,000 thousand to replace the equipment.

“It’s about a $20,000 hole for us,” Mr Sheehan said.

He says despite the disappointing theft, this weekend’s event will still go ahead, thanks to the community.

“We’ve been pretty lucky, the community have come together and are going to lend us tents.

“Snapper Surfriders said we can borrow any of their equipment that we need.

“The community’s helping us get the event for the weekend done but we’re still going to have a big hole in the club after the event.

If anyone has any information about the trailer, please be in touch with the Queensland Police, or Kirra Surfriders through Facebook.
